Submersible only ----> Inline pump

can i do this conversion? if i sealed up the pump with silicon and whatnot. i have a rio pump. just curious. any benefits to an inline setup?

i dont think so, cause the submersible ones rely on the water around them to cool them sometimes, and overheating could cause pump failure.

If you get an Eheim, they can run either way, no need to do any sealing. The inline setup will run cooler though.

could you put the pump in some kind of tank outside of your system so that absorbs the heat and just jurry-rig tubing the pump so it runs inline keeping the pump-heat out of the system??
