Hit the button that says "advanced view", then find the tab that says "messages". In there somewhere it should look like this except for some differences in time stamps.

1/9/2012 8:25:04 PM SETI@home Requesting new tasks for CPU
1/9/2012 8:25:10 PM SETI@home Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
1/9/2012 8:25:10 PM SETI@home Message from server: Project has no tasks available

If that is the case, there is nothing wrong on your end. The servers that generate work units are simply behind and don't have any work to send you. They will catch up eventually. BOINC will automatically keep trying till it gets work.

Hmm, must be different in the newer versions of BOINC. Go back to simple view (view button in top bar and scroll down to simple view) and click the messages button there in the bottom left and tell me what you see.

What about the button I circled in green here? Does that give you a new window with lots of messages?

 That is very strange. If there are problems with the client, they should show up in the messages tab. You may have better luck over on the official BOINC/SETI forums. I have never seen this type of error before.

It looks like your install is optimized and is asking for work.
Your system is also encountering the same bandwidth limitations from Berkeley that the rest of us are seeing.

Your 'Transfers' tab should show the work units that are allocated to your machine that are pending download. You can use the 'retry now' button on that page without penalty on any unist that show "Download pending (project backoff xxxxxx).

The 'tasks' tab will show the work that finished download and is being crunched or is in the que to be crunched.

The 'Projects' tab shows in the far right column, how long until your machine is allowed to ask for more work again. Pressing 'update' here will generate an additional time penalty until your machine is eligible to ask for work again. If this timer is zero, do not manually 'update' unless your 'transfers' tab is also empty.

In both the advanced and the simple view, the 'notices' tab only tells you if the project is in a scheduled outage, or if your client is out of date. The valuable information is in the 'messages' tab of older clients, or the 'advanced/event log' tab for the newer client.

Ah, thanks eaglescouter. I'm still on the older version. I didn't know that they moved the messages info to the event log.

I don't know why it is buried there, I do know that I dislike it there.....
