So after not crunching for a long time due to overall displeasure with the lack of work from SETI and lack of ATI apps, I fired up my new rig the other day to find that not only would my machine get loads of work but *gasp* here's an ATI app that works. Needless to say, my assault on the top 10 shall be resuming full force.

Assault?
Nah, more like a quest to join those at the top.
Welcome to the party. :)

Yeah, this little machine isn't going to make a 40k assault happen just yet. Need to upgrade cooling for it to run all 8 threads @ 4 GHz stably. It can be done but I don't like 80+ degree core temps. Poor little H50 is just out of gas with that much heat. Think it may be time for me to take the dive and build a real loop to cool things down. However, I'm not even real sure how much CPU time I really need to dedicate, with the ATI WUs going so fast. Right now, its happily running two CPU threads/two ATI threads. Adding in another Q9400 Dell box that'll get 16 hours a day work or so. My 2012 build is starting, definitely looking at the fancy new 7970s and one of the six-core sandy bridge machines. Definitely going to keep an eye out for production on the 7970, my 5850s are doing WUs in 6-13 minutes for the most part.
Welcome back.
I'm running SETI/CUDA and can see that some WUs get assigned to other PCs that crunch them on the CPU. The time difference is astounding. The ratio is about 20:1. I'd expect similar results with the ATI GPU. I'd focus on getting that rolling first.

Welcome back!
I hope to be back again soon, after a short leave.

@HankB: Getting the ATI gpus going was my first priority. Maybe not quite 20:1 vs my CPU, probably closer 6:1 or so. CPU tasks finishing in an hour vs GPU tasks finishing in 10-12 minutes. Still smokin fast, and with a pair of 7970s coming around the corner, its only going to get better.

Got my first ATI AP WU this morning. Should be interesting to see how it gobbles that up.

28% done on the AP unit in 12 minutes. This has me wanting a lot more AP WUs.

Just under 45 minutes to do the entire AP unit. Wow. That's crazy fast.

Just picked up a 3rd EK GTX 470 waterblock :) So I'll be running 3 water cooled GTX 470s down the road, should help bring my RAC up a little.

Looking better, is today your new normal production (about 11th place for our team), or are you still ramping up?

Today should be pretty close to normal until I can locate some 7970s for Red. My plan is to replace the 5850s in Red with those and put the 5850s in a couple lower power machines (most like i3-2100 based).

With my new rig finally getting cached WU, I can start getting better result even when Seti goes down or runs out of WU for the moment. I was already in top 10 in daily RAC before this.
