Ok guys, help me out here. Maybe I'm just being brain dead and not getting it but here it goes:
On my Abit BE6-II v1.1, I'm running a WD as master and a Seagate as slave on EIDE header 1. After reformatting the WD HD using the supplied utility disk, if I remove the seagate disk while staying on either of the EIDE66 headers, the HD fails to be recognized. Same thing on the regular IDE header. Ok, fine. Set it back up as WD=master, seagate=slave on EIDE header 1. Install 98se no problem. Thing is, now when I go to set machine as server, it's saying that both HD's are running in compatability mode and that I could encounter performance issues. This has turned out to be true. When accessing data, I'll get this 1~2 second lag. Mouse gets all slow, etc. I've even tried just using fdisk and then format via boot disk. Same result. What's going on here???? I think it may be time for a new mobo as IDE header 2 no longer works either making me run both CD and CD-RW on the same header. Big no-no for burning CD's.....
