I don't fling poo often, but when I do I take it seriously.

That would be great, Rustyfender.

Laptops are great, but they can't hold a folding candle to a desktop gamer!

Why do i lose ppd when my monitor shuts off? How do I prevent that?

You still have a power saving feature being activated. It's either in your OS, or in your BIOS. Most computers nowadays have settings for power savings in both places.

SHUT THEM OFF!

Are you on Windows or Linux?

how are you guys setting it up to "get the good" units?

I use:

Native Linux or Linux in a Virtual Machine (I use VMWare Player 3.0. You have to register for it, but it's free for non-commercial uses).

Oddly, the points from Linux are now close to being twice what you get on the same folding rig, in Windows -- ChasR just tested this.

If it's at all possible for our racers to move over to 64 bit desktop Ubuntu (especially 11.10), they should do that, ASAP.

Folding client: 6.34 console, for either Linux (64 bit), or Windows, available from here:
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/DownloadWinOther

(near the bottom of the page). I don't fold with gpu's so this is perfect.

In the client set up:

name: T32monkeys
team: 32
passkey: 3311d92fd7ee331bd66dfe6eea01708b

size of work packet or unit: big

Advanced parameters: yes
extra parameters: -smp -verbosity 9

All the rest are default settings.

Mm I didn't use verbosity 9 just -smp 12 hmm il give that a try when I get home ( at jury duty yaay)

Verbosity 9 just tells the folding client to show more verbiage in the log file. It won't improve your wu selection or folding. It does improve any troubleshooting that you need to do, however.

Do you have 12 cores or more?

You have my sympathy. Last one I was on I was an alternate - so you have to be there every day, hear all the testimony, but then you don't even get to deliberate with the 12 regular jurors.

Talk about useless!

Wanna hear something funny?
I have two Fermis and a i5 2500k sitting here doing nothing because of, something even funnier.

So, a package from Málaga to Barcelona (Spain), is taking about a week, and the trackin service said it should have already arrived, I fear they've lost it. A package from EK (Slovenia?) to Barcelona has already arrived to Barcelona, and they ordered it three days ago. Explain me that. Oh, and, which one of those packages have my MVG?! YES THE ONE THAT SHOULD HAVE ARRIVED!!

And the Chimp Challenge already started... what a pity.

That really sucks. Get onto the courier and tell them your work is being hurt as a result of the delayed package and you'll be wanting compensation. A year of folding for Team32 on their pc's should be enough
