Package?

just a question about the HWmonitor. what is the "package" in a CPU? why is it hotter than the cores? should i take it in to consideration when monitoring the temps in overclocking or should i just ignore it?

Mine doesn't show a temp, just wattage.

i think only intel cpus have the package in hwmonitor. i am using the latest one.

Yes, in HWmonitor it shows wattage for the package.

I've noticed that he package temp is always roughly equal to the temp of the hottest core on my 2600k.

sometimes my cpu's package is about 3 to 5c hotter than my hottest core... :shrug:

I think package is the overall temperature of the processor's die, taken from a sensor somewhere on the die.
