Which would you go with? Uses include GAMES, multitasking in Windows, some streaming/video transcoding etc etc. I'd love to upgrade this i3 to a i5 but funds are lacking at the moment...and I've already got the q9550 setup, my old gaming rig haha. GPU it will be with is a 6870...opinions?

Streaming as in xsplit? q9550 gets my vote if so.

You'll miss the 9550 a LOT more when streaming than you'll miss the i3 when gaming.

Yeah a bit like that. Xsplit runs so bad...like TF2 goes from 200fps to 60/choppy rofl.

The biggest deciding factor atm is my i3/6870 barely runs DayZ playable in towns. My wife's q9550 @ 3.6/4850 runs DayZ at the SAME SETTINGS (1920x1080) about 20fps higher in towns than mine does............damn games are finally taking advantage of quads.

Oh 1156 socket, I was thinking 1155 LOL

Yeah she is a bit old xD

Yep, q9550 for sure. :)

Got this q9550 back up and running at 4.1, hits 58 ~ 59 gflops in ITB - definitely trashing the i3 in everything so far.
