ive seen ppl running one stick of ddr in the 3rd slot, far right.. is there a reason for this?

I run my stick in slot 4. The reason is that it is farther from the cpu and so its probably a fraction of a degree cooler. When I get a 2nd stick I'll put it in slot 1, that way the 2 sticks don't interfere with each other due to EMI. All 4 dimm slots on my board are packed in close together, and so the only way to use all four is with single-sided ram.
