Post screen ghost image

I sometimes get a ghost image of the BIOS splash screen just when windows98 begins to load. This ghost image appears to just ontop of or just under the initial DOS loadup screen. Meaning I see both images at the same time. Everytime it does this it causes the computer to freeze. Ctrl-Alt-Del reboots the computer and everything boots as normal. This only happens every tenth time or so the computer gets turned on. Can anyone suggest what the problem may be. System consists of:
Asus P4T-E w/1.7 cpu, Bios ver. 1005. no updates yet from asus. 512 megs rambus 499 megs after memory tweek fix for Win 98 4.10.1998 memory error w/512 megs or more of ram. Asus V6600 video
