So, i got this mobo.
Apparently, manufacturers aren't into high performance RAID
with the high performance i850 chipset @ socket 478, so there are only a handful of choices, namely:
Gigabyte GA-8ITXR
ABIT TH7II-RAID
Some DFI board which i can't remember the number to

Anyway, i got the 8ITXR because it had Promise Fastrack instead of HiPoint, Creative instead of the dubious AC '97, dual bios (that's right), overvolt on the RIMMS, etc... etc... etc... the features just roll on.

IT DOES NOT WORK. REPEAT. IT DOES NOT WORK.

NOTHING i do can get the board to install Win98 on the RAID drives. I have swapped EVERYTHING.

The ONLY PLACE on the internet where i could find ANYTHING about it was on the neoseeker.com forum for this board. Curiously enough, all of the other people on this forum with the actual board could not get it to work either. The RAID port corrupts, leaving a twisted pile of cybertrash.
I'm thinking, it has to work, right?
Why would they even release it if it didn't?
Any Thoughts?

It has the 850. Trust me.
Make sure the one you're talking about is the 8ITXR.
And if it is, brace yourself for disappointment.
