set at cas 2.5?
The only memory at 2700 at cas 2 is, as far as I found, is Corsair.
Is there a reason for the cas 2.5 over 2100?

ALL PC2700 RAM is oc'ed PC2100 RAM. With the exception of one company I believe Samsung? but Corsair is oc'ed which many people don't believe.

oh...

What about kingmax 333? I thought the speed went according to the chips used, ie. 7.5ns =2100 6ns=2700 ect...

i really disagree with that, i mean i could be 100% wrong so done take this as law. But all i keep hearing is pc2400 is overclocked pc2100 (maybe so) and pc2700 is just overclocked 2400 (maybe so) adn pc3000 is just overclocked pc2700 (maybe so) and that pc3200 is just overclocked pc3000 (again maybe so).

This is why i don't believe that. There is actualy standards set for pc2100/2400/2700 so it is just that

2100 is 2100 not OC'ed 1600
2400 is 2400 not OC'ed 2100
2700 is 2700 not OC'ed 2400(pc3000 and up i belive is 2700 oced to higher specs)

yes some companies use crap mem tha happends to hit a higher rated speed in ONE CERTIAN machine. But The good companies (crucial, mushkin, and corsair kingmax, samsung OCZ) actually have mem that is that speed, nto overclocked.

If al this were tue then in essence pc3200 is just overclocked pc2100. And i dont see that happening. That is too much overclocking for any mem out right now.

So back to my orginal question, why does it seem that the 2700 memory is all at cas 2.5, except for Corsair.

Doe the .5 really make that much a difference?
I'm planning on putting together another computer and looking for RAM for a 333 mb.
Samsung, OCZ are priced pretty good.
Mushkin, for 3000/ 256megs for 85 dollars.
The Mushkin is cas 2.5. That's why I would like to know if it makes that big of difference, 2 or 2.5..

pc2700 and up

Even if its rated for cas2, you will probably have to run it at 2.5 to get the DDR 333 speeds. Look into brands that use the Samsung chips. I've heard good things about those recently. Kingmax is also a pretty good bet.

Yeah, I got a stick of KingMax PC2700 and can't run cas2 unless I'm at 133 DRAM clock. I'm really upset at the fact that I can't get my ram to run above 168 though.

Theprdg what is your memvolts like? Whats your 5v rail readings? My 5v rail was 4.70 and My machine wouldn't go more than 135 fsb. I changed the PSU to an Antec 400 watt and the 5v is at 5.1 and it goes 150+ all day long.

Uhm, what's a 5v rail? Anyway, what's the best ram for overclocking? is it crucial, ocz, samsung or kingmax? I really wanna see some fsb at 180 or so.

You could get Mushkin pc3200 for $119

Or maybe some Mushkin pc3000 which is a better deal at $85

Its kind of crazy as the pc3000 is cheaper than Mushkins pc2700, and its only $6 more than the Mushkin pc2100

The Mushkin pc3000 is good stuff, got a stick today

And I bought a stick of pc2400 Mushkin from OC Jason

He rans some benchies LOOK:
