mixing RAM?

will i have any problems if i mix crucial pc2100 with another brand?

eh, maybe- I've heard about it a lot but never had firsthand problems. Some motherboards and chipsets don't seem to like it very much. Mostly, AMD/VIA combos have problems it seems- and I really don't know why. Even if you have two different kinds of high-end super quality RAM, you might have problems.

From another side of it- I ran 3 different kinds of RAM in my overclocked system for a long time with no problems. So I guess your mileage may vary!

I have one stick Micron and two sticks generic (yuk) and they run fine. However, you will be limited, as always by the capabilities of the slowest RAM. For example - if you had a stick of Micron and a tsick of Corsair (both PC2100), and the Micron could cope with speeds of 290MHz, but the Corsair could do 310MHz, the overall limit would be 290MHz, the slower one.

Same goes for mixing speeds. A stick of PC2400 and PC2700 in a rig will have PC2400 as the limit to how far you can push the memory.

If possible, stick with one brand, but you should be OK with mixed.

from what i've heard it could matter, some system dont like mixed ram and if your overclocking sometimes one stick will overclock better than another causing you to have to be at the mercy of the cheaper one, if you can stick with the same brand...IMHO
