Does anyone have this working on their board ?? If so is it talking to a hub, switch or DSL/Cable modem?

I can ping the NIC but it's not talking to the modem, or more correctly, it's trying to talk but it's speaking the wrong language as the modem ignores it. The modem talks fine to my LinkSys PCI NIC.

I am getting so tired of this motherboard and it's lack lustre performance. They just took the latest bios off their sight, it's back to the 2aa3 bios.

Yeah, mines up and working with a cable modem. No issues with it, other than having to turn the cable modem off and on.

I was quite happy with this board (all default settings so far) until I started seeing the negative posts. I thought I did a thorough job of checking out all the reviews, and they were all positive (with the exceptions of the one site you mentioned in your other posts).

Funny that most of these sites recommended it so highly...doesn't seem like they did a very thorough job.

Based on the posts here, think I'll forget about OCing for the time being.

well if it's the same "VIA pci 10/100 Fast eithernet adaptor",I have on my Dragon+ that you have,it should work .I have mine going to a Linksys switch and router and cable modem.

my onboard nic is working full duplex, and flawlessly.

did you get the latest drivers?

you could also check windows update for VIA drivers.

Been doing a little more investigation with it and it seems to work okay when I connect it to a hub and I also had it working when connected to a router. When I try and get it to talk to my DSL modem is when things get squirly, it's like it doesn't like to talk to the modem. I'm getting closer to the answer though, a little more probing and I might stumble on it.

It's an SIS-900 NIC and I did d/l the latest drivers which may account for the limited sucess recently. I'm sure the answer isn't too far away.

do you need to call your isp to have them get the mac address?

or reset the dsl modem?(reset button?) to clear an old mac address?

btw,Hi neighbor :) where do you live? I live in the SF Valley.

Hi Dan,

Live close to down town LA - Mt Washington, work d/t for the city. What area in the SFV u live?

I just sent off my router, had it for nearly 2yrs and just broke it out to try to get NIC working, but it didn't support PPPoE so they are going to exchange it for a newer model. As soon as I get it back I'm goint to try and set up my Router, Hub and Print Server so I can network my kids computers.

It may be a Modem issue, I'm not sure, I need to sit down and spend some time trying to figure it out - I'm quite new to networking. I installed new drivers for the SIS-900, I tried to find a firmware upgrade for my Speed Stream but it looks like Efficient Networks Inc is no longer in business :( , I'm also considering going to RasPPPoet instead of WinPPPoet - maybe I don't even need PPPoE if I'm using a router - I don't know!
