RDRAM question

Hello,
I was looking at the samsung rambus, and as I heard the 16-device is better than the 8-device. But I dont really know what 16 and 8 mean. Or do those numbers represents the number of banks that each stick has?

For instance if a stick of 256 MB has 32 banks, does this mean that it is an 8-device stick?

P.S.: so why would a stick with lesser number of banks be better?

usually the more devices on the ram the better it is
