As a newbie, I've tried to search the messages for info on the Abit BL7 mobo booting problems!!! I am having some issues with my board.
System:
bl7 mobo
512meg ram
Hercules 3D prophet III ti200 vid card

No other cards, and no drives in it cept a generic 40X CDROM...

The system will post when I get up in the morning and sit there and says looking for bootable device(ie: I have no HD's in the system) It will sit there like this for about 4 minutes, then the monitor goes blank and then it shows the color bars(ie:self test when no video signal is presented to the monitor) and the only way to reset the system is by unplugging the power cable..... Now I have to wait about 10 mins before I can turn it back on again or else it just hangs there. The POST code says C1 and the small led's next to the POST code are ALL lit up.... weird!!!

ANY ideas???

thx
D

I'm not sure if the POST codes are the same for all Abit motherboards, but according to my Abit TH7II-RAID manual, the error code C1 has to do with memory detection. You might want to reset your memory in the sockets. Look in your manual, it should tell you what the POST code C1 means.

Having the BL7 motherboard, unfortunately means you are using SDRAM for your P4 system and not many people opt for SDRAM for P4 systems since that memory is really too slow to keep up with the P4. :(

Weird.... I tried a Gigabyte MB with the same components and it worked flawlessly... So I fugured that my MB was bad from abit, i purchased another BL7 to replace it. It did the same thing as the 1st so i looked further into the problem.... Turns out the power supply is the culprit!!!!

hope this helps someone else in the future!!!!
