Ok, my friend gave me a stick of 256mb PC2700 DDR mem from his computer. I am planning to put it into my brother's computer. Currently my brother has one stick of 256mb pc2100. Should I leave that stick in and add the other one so he has 512 or remove the pc2100 cause its slower?

Download Sisoft Sandra. Compare before and after. If there's no difference, then it's good, if there's a huge drop, remove it.

You can use them both at the same time but they will run at the slower speed of the two memory sticks.
Or, you can use only the PC2700 if you like.
