cd rom problem

my cd rom will not load any cd at all, i put the cd in and it spins up then stops says there is not a cd in it, i have tried a music cd starcraft and renegade and none of them worked anyone know what may be causeing this?

i have tried uninstalling it reinstalling it still doesnt work

You may have a bad cd-rom.Do you have another one you can try?

no i do not have another i can try.... god why did it have to die now!!! LOL ohh and just to make sure u know i have had this for 2yrs or so this isnt new to my sys, just to let you know. guess i will have to buy a new one, unless someone else has ny more suggestions?

Find a friend who has a cdrom that you know works, and stick it in to see. Did you change any settings or plugs before it stopped working? If it just stopped working on it's own, the it's probably the end of the line for it. It's always a good time to upgrade. :-)

ya my friend has an old x that he is gunna let me borrow to see if it is the computer ot cd rom, and just before it stoped working i installed a patch for C&C Renegade.....

ya fter i posted my above post i decided to give my cd rom a nother go and guess what.........it works!?!?!?! wtf!?!?!

I had a creative Labs 12x DVDrom. And it started out doing stuff like that. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't. It kept getting progressivly worse. Maybe you will get lucky and it won't happen again. But it may also be a sign that the end is near.

ya this summer i will buy a new one i hope it doesnt die before then

well it happen again and it will not play anything its been like this for a few days so time to buy a new one
