I have a 1.8A GHz P4 Processor (Northwood) mounted in a BD7 mainboard with newest beta bios and cl 2.5 infineon ddr ram running on 266 MHz. I try to overclock the processor by setting

FSB/CPU/PCI 133/66/33
CPU/PCI 4:1 or 33 fixed
CPU/DRAM Auto or 1:1

CPU voltage 1.5 to 1.6V

Nothing works. I allways got a BIOS checksum error or a hanging system.

Any hints

only 1.6 Volt @ 133 fsb?

my 1.8 must have 1.75 @ 133 fsb.

you must take the vcore higher to get it stable.

will try it this evening

Unfortunately it seems that few 1.8 Northwoods overclock as well as the newer 1.6s. I have the same problem; even at 125 Mhz FSB (2250 Mhz), this chip needs 1.725 V (as set in the BIOS) and gets very hot.

the system works now at 133 FSB. The trick was to set the ddr ram parameters manually to cl 2.5 and not to spd detection.

But with the normal intel cooler i have 65 °C. So thats to hot for using the system permanently. I switched back to FSB 110 and everything is fine

RANCID........... what sort of board you running???

I'm having similar probs, in that I am limited to 125Mhz @3:4 mem ratio.... BD7-RAID, 1.8A & 3200 Corsair. Temps 39 idle to 45 full load.

Suspect I am going to have to really relax the mem timings to try and get as high as poss, then see what I can tweak.

Keep re-booting part-way into WinXP-pro.

Real frustrating.
