I'm building a new computer soon with an ASUS A7M266-D motherboard. This motherboard has two 66MHz, 64 bit PCI slots. I want to go with SCSI RAID for performance. I'm going to buy one Seagate Cheetah 15K drive to run my OS and I've got two Atlas V SCSI drives I'm going to put on a RAID 0 for applications and games.

Here the question,

Should I get an Adaptec 2100S RAID card that is 33MHz, 32 bit and put 128 MB of Memory on it, or should I get the Adaptec 2110s which is 66MHz, 64 bit, but comes only with 32 MB memory and can't be upgraded?

To be honest, unless you're going to be doing very heavy file serving...the 32MB 66/64 card will be more than enough for your use.

Then again, unless you run at least 4 drives in a RAID 0 array, you won't come close to reaching the extra bandwidth those slots use anyway.

Weigh your choices on personal use and decide is all I can really recommend.
