Not quite sure whats going on, but when i try to boot from a floppy i get an "I/O error". But i know the drive works fine in windows, as i can read and write files to the drive just fine. So anyone have any idea whats going on? And yes the floppy is a bootable win98 bootdisk. TIA

well then the read write heads may be getting outa whack. As some drives get old, they get outta line (the R/W heads) and they can still read and write but they will not be able to read disks from another system... Give that a try. Write something to a disk in the suspect machine and then try to read it in another machine...

Another possible problem is dust. Clean your drive with a can of compressed air from a local office supply store.

I get that a lot and my drive is only a few months old. I know my disks are old so sometimes that is the cause but sometimes I get that error with good disks... I blame it on overclocking.

all I can think of is double check that the cables are firmly in place and try to make a bootable floppy on the machine that is having the trouble and use it. If you are overclocked try to turn the fsb down to default while you are booting from that disk.

I know you said that disk works in other machines but did you try booting from it?
