I have 3 floppies, 1 CD rom and 1 CDRW that don't work. Does anyone know where I can get info on troubleshooting and repairing these drives?

Does anyone know what typically goes wrong with each of them?

Thanks,

This is just my point of view.

Floppy's are very cheap. Not worth the expense to fix.
CD-ROM's are pretty cheap. Not worth the expense to fix.
DVD-ROM's are getting pretty cheap. Not worth the expense to fix.
CDRW's are probably still under warranty. RMA it.

I know they're cheap, I've already replaced them. But, I'd still like to fix the old ones. It's the tinkerer in me.

Where can I find info to help?

You may be able to get technical schematic's from the manufacturer's web site. If you are a good tinkerer, that and a multi-meter should get you started. I don't know of any actual "How To Fix" site's. I would open it up and just look for something obvious to start and go from there. You can't break it. Check any internal fuses first, then loose wire's, circuit parts, etc.
