Ive been reading of people managing to reach 166mhz with their Crucial pc2100, what cas is that?

I got 2x256 crucial pc2100 but they cap at 147mhz with cas 2 and maximum DDR voltage

I got Epox 8k7a mobo with lastest BIOS and I set my memory settings to Fast (meaning lowest cas latencies)

it could possibly be some other component holding you back like a nic or a modem and even scsi . I am running a scsi CDR and HD and I dont want to toast another card so I am keeping it pretty low on the OC 1.2 @ 1.3, and its pretty stable I only have to reboot once a week or so ,but look at other components befor determining it is your memory . Befor I put in scsi I had mine doing 160mhz on an Epox 8kha+, and was fine , just my $0.02

steve

edit >>Dont set it to Fastest or even Fast ,and I have had no luck with Turbo but thats just me

I have my 256 stick of crucial doing 150 FSB with turbo timings at 2.8 volts. I only had one random reboot at 2.7, so I upped the voltage. Hopefully that will fix it, otherwise it's the PSU. (300 watt)

Well I dont know what could be holding me back. I got a gforce3 at 4x agp, 2 network cards, sb live! thats all.

Also, i noticed my 5v is quite low, its 4.71v, is it my power supply? Its an Antec 300W

That is pretty low! That I would think be a definite indication that you need a more powerful PSU. Antec is usually a great PSU.

So what would happen if I get a 350-450W PSU(Gonna get Enermax if so)? Cause even if its low, its not too low, which wouldnt affect stability, right?

Here are my sisoftware sandre results for voltage

CPU core voltage 2.07 V (Dont know if thats correct because I use epox 8k7a and got the jumper set to +0.4V for vcore)

+3.3w voltage 3.34v
+5v voltage 4.71v
+12v voltage 11.83

btw I was also thinking of doing the voltage mod for the epox 8k7a

Comments?

Also Ill add what my system is composed of to see if the low voltage is normal

3x80mm case fans, Dragon Orb 3 CPU fan, Gforce3, 2 network cards, 1 sound card, vcore +0.4, DDR voltage +0.3, Epox 8k7a, 50X cd drive, 12/10/32 CDRW drive, 40G 7200rpm HDD

I think thats it, and I may add a 90mm case fan on top of it all plus the voltage mod for my mobo which will increase voltage use

read my first post again

I said that i maxed at 147mhz fsb with max DDR voltage

Epox 8KHA+ with XP1600+, 256mb Crucial pc2100, setting all on high even Turbo, cas 2, Sparkle 350w PS, cheap VC nvidia GF 2mx 200, AX-7 HSF, 185x8.5

nice~~~~~ my corsair can only do me 140 100% stable:mad:
here is my sysytem spec:
Green 1800XP AGOAG
Epox 8K7A
256 mb PC2400 Kingmax
256 mb PC2100 Corsair
Gigabyte Geforce 3 (orginal) :(
GTXP
hercules 5.1 speakers
canon BJC 3000
Hitachi CM771 19inc
Lite-on 16*10*40
Samsung 12 speed DVD
Vocalno 7CU+
10/100 Intel Pro 82557
40Gb 7200 rpm seagate
60Gb 7200 rpm WD
headphone, microphone 24 hr plug in

maybe because i got too many thing in my system.....:( but i want to share a high FSB as well as my feature though :(:(

Rottys-R-Us, nice man, how much voltage is being pumped through that thing?

You do have alot of stuff in your system, but you have two different types of ram so I think that may screw you over.

Yodums

Ok, here is what I got by changing my timings

My timings are 8872422
I can attain 170mhz FSB stable, but I needed to go down to 166mhz because my CPU cant go over 1580 and the multiplier doesnt allow me any higher FSB to not pass the 1580

In sisoft sandra I got 2013/2064 in my memory benchmark. If I lower my 7 to anything lower my system becomes unstable and would need to decrease my FSB down to 147 again.

What do you think?

I allways found that it was my soundblaster live value which held me back from getting high FSB speeds on my kha+.

Well it was not any of my PCI devices, only my timings which I changed as stated in my earlier post

Passed 166fsb, my motherboard initiates 1/5 divider so I had no problem with that and im pretty sure the new BIOS allows me to select my PCI mhz without any relations to FSB since in a new setting it says PCI Clock and was at 33 default and I could move it by shots of 1

what!
on an 8K7A?

there are no dividers on that board.

yes, the 8k7a will move from 1/4 to 1/5 PCI clock divider once it reaches 166 fsb and higher

umm, no that is not true, it hasnt even been proven on the 8KHA+ (although i still suspect it). even if it is there, which i have never heard of, it is not proven and cannot be said for sure.
