What does DIMM stand for...I know what it is(where the RAM goes in) but I don't know what the actually letters stand for...thanx

there is also RIMM and SIMM....

Spec

Dimm=dual inline memory module.
Simm=single inline memory module.
Rimm=Rambus inline memory module.

ahhhh.....always wanted to know that...thanx

also

DDR-RAM = double data rate random access memory

SDRAM = single data random access memory??
RDRAM = Have NO CLUE

That is my last question ;)
Thanx

Spec

"SDRAM = single data random access memory??"

that is actually synchronus, not single...same sort of deal though...

also there is SO-DIMM which is short outlet...used in notebooks I believe...

and there are literally hundered of different types of ram...all of which are either specialised like VRAM, GRAM...etc...

or never made it past the drawingboard...FRAM for example...

never ever though try and learn all types - every time I try to read up on different types of RAM, I end up seeing about three or four other types I have never heard of before, so its just a pain more than anything...

SD RAM: Syncroniced Dynamic Random Access Memory
