I want to buy a stick of corsair xms ram but i dont know if i should get the PC2700 (DDR333) cas2.0 stick or the PC3200 (DDR400) cas2.5 as they are nearly the same in price? I have an A7V333 mobo with one stick of Corsair XMS ddr333 pc2700 512MB in there right now. The new stic i need is 512 mb as a second stick as i need 1 gb total ram. Thanx for any help.

I would lean towards getting the same kind that you already have in there. Memory of a different type may not run together well and cause timing problems, thats not to say that two sticks of the same kind will run any better - but it's more likely that you'll have less issues if you use two identical sticks.

They are probally the same things, just rated at different speeds. I bet if you buy the cas2 2700 you could run it at cas2.5 3200. Its all marketing.

pC3200 is always faster... I forget when but Toms Hardware just answered that recently in an article..

BTW PC3200 will run at PC2700 2-2-2

The pc3200 memory has been tested to hit pc3200 speeds so if you plan on building a new pc somewhere down the road, I'm sure the pc3200 memory will come in handy. In fact, pc3200 might even be regarded as "slow" a few years from now.

If you don't need the memory right away, you might want to wait a few weeks for the Samsung DDR400 sticks to hit the street.

Peace
