OK here is the idea....I'll keep it simple since I have the full explanation in another thread (link comes later :p) I think that it would be great to have a topic on the forms called Computer Art....HERE (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=92348) is the FULL explantaion....and http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=90872 is where it ALL started...910 views....that is a LOT :D
Also, a lot of people think this is a good idea...so SKIP if you are reading this...I hope that you consider one of the ideas mentioned in the first link!! We all bow down to you skip!!
Spec for moderator of Computer Art topic :eh?:....lol...?

I think just an ongoing art thread is good enough. There are some really cool pics in that thread- But not too many here are graphics guys, this is overclockers.com after all. If you want to get into talking about art and sharing your renders and that cool stuff, there are plenty of forums specifically for that purpose.
Plus, having folks posting big image files left and right will really work over Skip's bandwidth bills, and slow the server for everybody! Not everybody can link to their own webspace. Example: your first pic is 146355 bytes x 910 views = 130726050 bytes (124MB) transferring that one picture alone. It's a rad picture but all those views add up:D

I think that a computer art section would be a good idea. It gives people a chance to ask for graphic related assistance and possibly help in splitting rendering times. When a complex high quality rendering can take 30 hours plus, it would tie up peoples machines for the entire time.
I like the idea. The bandwidth problem can be solved by hosting them elsewhere. And not allowing uploads in that forum.
I think whatever we do we should be able to post our works but not slow down the forums

Yes that may be true but think about this....if this is an OVERCLOCKER forms then why do we have a coding section??? That has nothing to do with overclocking...same goes for rendering...it may not have anything directly related to overclocking but these forms carry everything, not JUST overclocking....otherwise that would be kinda boring...so you see it has everything and this would make a great addition I think
And it bandwith is a big problem then well get other places to host out pictures...no big deal :p
Plus, most of the other forms out there suck...people are rude and take all the credit for themselves while not sharing their tiricks of the trade....why do you think I stay here...everyone is great here....people tell there tricks and are actually nice!:D

yah I see what you are saying!
My point is just that art and overclocking are too widely different. Most overclockers have programmed a bit at some point, either for fun or cuz they had to. At the very least, we've all used a comandline, so we can relate to programming. But, none of the graphics guys I know IRL care about overclocking/programming/hardware at all. They are art guys first and foremost, who just happen to use a PC as their paintbrush.
But that's just my opinion, probably not worth 2 cents lol. We'll see what Skip has to say, it's his forum after all :D

Or howbout you get AMD to make you some XPs that have "SPEC FOR MODERATOR" included with the steppings. If you gave out free cpus, you would be very popular

How is programming not related to overclocking? You have to learn how to tweak your OS/software just right to get the most benefit from OC. Plus, if you're really willing to go the extra mile, programming can let you alter or even create new drivers, bios files, even chipset mods.... I know that's not what gets talked about most in the programming threads, but the possibility exists....

I personally like the idea. An ongoing thread will get VERY messy. A space in the forums is a much more practical solution. Plus to make it not such a bandwidth hog there could be a sticky saying that it's mandatory to get a personal web space to save the forums.
BTW Overclocker's wallpaper = Overclocker's related :D

well most of the threads are other misc things like peoples own personal code...I hardly see anything really related to overclocking...and IMO there is not a very big relationship between programming and overclocking...you don't need to program your own program (lol) to make a successful overclock...but yes I do see your point...
I jus think Computer Art would make a great addiction....just remember

Well most of the discussions in the "Computer Related Discussions" aren't about computers. Semantics rarely meets reality....
All your case badge are belong to Skip....

I think graphics processing and overclocking (high-end computing performance) go hand in hand. Sure graphics people may not be the OCing masters, but they still need to tweak and speed up their computers.
Anyways, if these graphics people are on the overclockers forums in the first place, then they have to have some interest in hardware and/or OCing. If they were exclusively into graphics, I'm sure they'd be posting on graphic art forums.
Also, the OC forums has forums for SETI and folding which are both CPU intensive applications but don't directly have anything to do with OCing so why not have a graphic arts forum?
Think about it.

PS. See skip <looking towards the sky and kneeing down and praying> People like the idea :D
Alive and well, just traveling a lot for my job.
I also think this is a very good idea, however, I don't think we have the bandwith to handle the large images. When we were running 200K Avatars, that was killing us.
If some solutions to this problem can be hashed out (Off site FTP server or something) I'm all for the idea.

If my IP was assured to be static, I would offer up my home network as an FTP server to use for it. It might still be an option. I don't beleive my IP has changed since I signed on with ATT ccable.
