I know its only my floppy drive but the light is on continously after building new system and can't seem to use the drive. I stick a floppy in it and it ruins the disk (pyshically) even if i switch the write protection tab on it to lock position. Also have disconnected and reconnected both the data and power cables several times. Is it fried? any input welcome Thanks

FYI
Mitsumi 1.44 MB
1800 + AMD XP
MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU (currently not using the raid and its disabled in bios)
Maxtor 7200 RPM ATA133 80 GB HD
(2) 512 MB DDR PC2700 OCZ Memory
running Win XP Pro

anymore info needed let me know what

Reverse the orientation of the floppy data cable. The side with the red stripe normally is toward the power supply, but if the light stays on it's normally a reversed cable.

Definately a cable issue like Xaotic says.

Most floppy drives that I've dealt w/ are like that. They're backwards from the norm.

well everyone was close and it got me on the right track.

When I took off the cable to change it (not removing the floppy drive from the case and working under my desk knee space to be lazy and not move my case) I noticed a shinny sparkle guess it was the way the light in my room caught it one of the pins closest to me was bent into the side of the cable connector area didn't even notice bent it back pushed the cable right back on the same way booted up and everything was a.o.k.

So thanks for the insight!
