Now, the old pc800 ran a bandwidt at 3,2GB
This is gotten by this

100*4*8=3200mb

The newest ddr sd ram is rated pc3200, but then at this:

200*2*8=3200mb

And it is not very likely most computers will run that speed without a 6/2/1 divider, which only soon-comming mobos have. So the new 1066 rd ram will have a bandwidt of

133*4*8=4256mb

Saying that "Joe" is avaible to run his new XP comp at 166mhz, and "Eddie" runs his PIV rig at stock speeds. The nadwidt would be:
PIV:133*4*8=4256
XP: 166*2*8=2656

Difference is 1600mb. Total victory to the PIV rig.

BUT!

Pricewatch shows that 256 (2*128)mb rd ram is rated 133$ and 256 (1*256)mb ddr ram is rated 39$. The ddr is generic but even if we buy micron or samsung ram rated pc2700 it is 50$. Still pretty much cash for most of us

This is were ddr sd ram takes the crown...

elysium

Rdam on it's own isn't as good as ddr, its the dual channel chipset intel made so rdram could compete with ddr that gives it a advantage in memory bandwith.

It dosen't really do much good to have 10000mb/sec memory bandwith if the rest of the system can only use 3000mb/sec.

Yes you get a great sandra mem score but other than that little to no improvement in other areas.

Here is one review using 1066rdam and a Pentium 4 2.53Ghz Northwood.
