View Full Version : GF on Vid cards
What are the "gold fingers" on the video careds for? They seem to be on just about all cards too. Anybody know what there for?
You mean the contact points at the bottom of the card? They make the connection between the card and the motherboard.
One tip, try not to touch them, the oil in your skin will corrode them over time.

I mean the 20 or more golden pins sticking out of the card.

Sounds like the VGA feature connector (aka VGA passthrough connector). In the olden days of the mid 90's this use to be the place to connect vid cap cards and a few other graphic orientated hardware iteme. Today it's mostly just a dinosaur that's there just because it was there before.
