AMD Athalon vs Pentium

Does the AMD XP processor support MMX technology like the Pentium. Meaning are there programs that you have to have a Pentium to run?

both processors support mmx and both support SSE but only the P4 supports SSE2. that doesnt mean you cant run SSE2 programs on an athlon system it just means that they are "optimized" for a P4 processor, so they will run faster on a P4.
