AROIA vs AGOIA

I just receive my xp1600+ AGOIA which was expected to be an AROIA from NewEgg this afternoon. It has been running at FSB 178(locked) for like 6 hours already without any crashing. Vcore is 1.85 and temp is 45C running SETI@home since out of the box.

Question is
1. Can AROIA run even higher FSB(178) without unlocking? I will assume it's provided with enough Vcore and proper cooling.
2. If both stepping were unlocked, which one will overclock better? Or it's even hard to tell?

Any AROIA onwers please give some thoughts on this

If you're running at 11X178=1958, I would be happy with that. That's about the top end for the Palomino core. Very few people reach over 2 GHz, even with super cooling and high voltage.

But, if you want to try out the AROIAs, I'll buy your chip. :D (j/k)

AGOIA are known to be good overclockers. And 1.9 ghz is nothing to be upset about since you didnt get the other stepping. Most only get 1.8 ghz on air

my cpu is agoia and look what i'm able to get from what i see on the breds the 2025 mhz is as far asi see that it can go im not impressed since my cpu can get 2 ghz and its a 2000+

My 1700 AGOIA needs 1.95 Vcore to do 1.8 ghz

You realize that you are overclocking almost a half GHz with air. Unlock the puppy, and get watercooled man! I would go higher with my AGOIA, but I don't have my watercooling setup. A few more weeks! Maskedgeek, what chip do you have now...?

Man his chip is not ordinaary mine is the same week and everything and its only stable (now want more!) at 1775mhz with 1.80v and I'm disappointed because of formosian's processor well not very disappointed :).

no cant sell it, its going to my unkle in his system, its a AGKGA 1700+ is what i have now... it sucks for overclocking i cant get it to hit 1700mhz no matter what i do!

i cooled the thing to 14c and the thing still didnt budge... unlocked and everything!

I bought a XP-1600+ AROIA "Y" in a local store in Munich, Germany last week.

Cannot tell you about it's performance yet, 'cause I'm still waiting for my EP-8K3A... I'll get back when I received it and got the stuph up and runnin' though... =)

the AGKGA palominos level out at 1.74ghz then the AGOGA's go up to 1.76 ghz ( i ave tried the xp1800's and the XP1900's both reacted the same ).
I now have an AGOIA..y this runs at 1.89 ghz stable on 1.85voltage...

my temps stay stable throughout...

I just got my AROIA Y from www.ncix.com today, ill have to unlock it because my memory cant do over 150mhz. I got 1628mhz at default voltage, at 155mhz but my memory didnt hold up... Its a really nice chip though.

You should change the jumper on your mobo to 100 FSB then go in the BIOS and use the 3:4 RAM divider and see how high you can get the CPU.

So if you get the CPU to 166 FSB the RAM will be running at 133.

I dont think i have that option in my bios. I never heard of running the cpu fsb higher than the memory fsb:confused: Maybe in a beta bios?

There should be a setting that let's you run 100,133,166 FSB for the RAM.

It should be in the same section where the RAM timings are set.

Tried it... no go, the memory just keeps up with the FSB. I tried setting it at 100mhz after i set my fsb at 166mhz, after reboot it shows my memory as PC2700 at 333mhz DDR. Good idea though, thx.

It's what I had to do when I hit 199 FSB on my 8kha+ before PC-2700 came out.

My PC-2100 was actually running at 150 FSB and the CPU was at 199.

I was able to get my PC2100 stable at 160 FSB (playing QuakeIII and Swat3 for a few hours). I didn't go any higher because of my CPU temps. :p

wow...i've been searching for AROIA for a while now in Toronto area, and i couldn't even found AGOIA....all were AGOGA or older...so you got it from NCIX? i've ordered something else before from them, but i want to make sure i can get an AROIA for sure first...if i get something order its useless to me:(

did you call them to found out the stepping? and was that an OEM or Retail?

I didnt call em, i just ordered and crossed my fingers, lol. I oredered a bunch of things from them and i have had no bad expirience. It was and OEM package, it came in a P4 box, lol.

well since your all talking about steppings would it be better to buy a higher factory speed and to overclock that or to just buy say a 1600+ and then work with that.

i would say that no matter what your chip is sold as say it be an xp1600 or xp 1800..what really matters is what is egraved on the chip die..

AMD are selling these chips by the way they lock em down but in reality if you buy an AGOGA wether it be an xp1600 or xp 1900 you know that with the right equipment you should expct 1.76 ghz...If you buy an AGKGA ten expect 1.74..If you have an ARIOA or an AGoia well.the skys the limit...

No wonder they dislike us overclockers..#

I must admit mine is an xp2000 AGOIA ..y is anyone hitting 1.88 with an xp1600 AGOIA or XP1700?

just installed a green AGOIA 1600 OEM, running P95 for 1/2 hour so far, 10.5 x 182!! 1.92, I'd say this stepping ROCKS!

ok been playing this 1600+ AGOIA for about 4 days. As far as I can say, you can run it stable until around 1910 WITHOUT Vmod and watercool. But I got a feeling that if you feed this puppy with 2.1-2.2 Vcore and Watercooling, it can well pass the 2000 mark.

Did anyone ever try that?

DUDE! i got my agoia 1600+ up to 1836mhz! at 1.9v, i dont know what setting to use for the diode sensor.. for mbm, but my thermister on the core says 30c, and 16c water...

Are you sure you dont have some kind of compensation for that sensor? I had a 8c compensation before because of the difference between my sensor and the one one the board(T-Bird 1.4), i had to put it back to 0c because its being accurate(XP1600+).

Dang maskedgeek thats a great overclock. Is that the max stable boot (passing prime for atleast an hour) or just the highest post into windows? Either way thats really just insane run SiSoftware Sandra cpu test and post it I'm not sure if I've seen a benchy at that speed. Oh do you remember the steppings week?

it should be fine, morphling1 has his duron(stock 1.6) to 2.3volts! it may shorten the life of the chip a little bit, but i highly doubt youll have the chip that long....

As long as it is cooled properly, nothing. I run at 2V all day, 24/7. Did it for months with my 1900, now that I just got the AGOIA, it will receive the same 2v, maybe more!

I was running 1.7 GHz pretty stable (I was doing Swat3 and Quake III for a few hours) at 1.81 vcore. So, once I get watercooled, I'll have to unlock the chip and lets see how high I'll get.

Hi guys I've wanted a new chip for a while came real close to getting one from newegg last thursday but I did my budget and things didn't look good now things look better and now that we know tbreds aren't all that. I'd like to buy one now but will my Enermax 350 be able to give the chip enough juice to get to or past 1.8? I know that 1.8 isn't a garantee but that is what I'm hoping of reaching.

I am using an Enermax 350w PSU..I am running my CPU @ 2v and my +5 is 4.99v, +12 is 13.23v

i am also running a ge force 2 ultra overclocked massivley so there is your answer...

Oh yeah if you look at the above post you will see i am running at 1.95 ghz...

1.95 ghz is the edge of stability for my AGOIA..7y..I have to do further tests but i think this baby will do no more..

My idle temps are 44-47 idle so we have more heat than i really would like but stilll nothing dangerous and 13 deg less than my factory built evesham micros machine ran at.

ps i love enermax psu's they just ooze quality..i bought one for my main achine 6then went straight out and bought another..

I got an AGOIA from Newegg about a week ago and with a Millennium Glaciator I and 1.85 Vcore & PC2100 I've pretty much got you on my first attempt at an OC with this thing (needed a better PSU to overclock it). When I get more adventurous I think I'll be able to get to at least 1700MHz easily. AND YES this was the $80 OEM one.

well i got the 5v mod, got my voltages stable, but im now using my rad in my system, a rez and a rad and 4 fans just taped to the rad.. not a good idea, but my water temps just soared high!

they were like 16c till i oced to 1980, it was so stable for a while till it reached 20c, in like 5 minits, lol it isnt pulling the heat like it should... maby when i get my 120s.... and get rid of the rez...
