I just wanted to know if anyone else is getting slower hard drive scores with the P4. i have a WD HD 20 gig. My score with my P4 1.6a at 2.2 is like 630 pcmarks and like 19360 in Sandra. I tested the same hard drive reformated and used my AMD XP 1600+ at 1.57 ghz and got 960 score and 23540 in Sandra.

I was wondering if maybe I need a driver update. I've tried 2 P4 boards and get similiar results. The Asus p4T-E and the MSI 645 Ultra. The p4T-E is Rdram and the MSI is DDR. The AMD was tested on the Soyo Dragon +. Windows XP says that they are running at ATA100 for all boards. It just seems to consistent to me to be a fluke.

Do you have the latest Intel .inf file updated for the i850(P4T-E mobo)?

PCMark2K2 real flakey otherwise. I've seen RAID0 15K SCSI drives get beaten by a 7.2K IDE drive.

Go figure.

Well I updated and it didn't do a thing. I guess the benchmarks are kinda flaky.

Have you tried HD Tach?

Although old, I think its still reliable in its scoring.

I thought that HD tach doens't work on XP (or at least not hte demo version). If I'm wrong, please let me know (and give me the link! :) -- Paul

Your right, the regged version works on XP. I didn't notice he was running XP.

Not a problem. Do you have any ideas for WinXP tools? Thanks again for your input! -- Paul
