I posted about this in another section but I wanted to see if you PSU guru's had any thoughts. Someone mentioned something about a lacking 5V line...
I have many old AT 250+W PSU's coming and I want to make them ATX useful. My local radioshack has the ATX connector, all I'd have to do is solder the correct wires to the correct slots and viola. Problem is I have not a clue which color wire carries what.
anyone ever attempted this?
According to http://www.pccables.com/cabtech.htm, the AT power supply doesn't have a 3.3v output.

and there's no where else I could solder/wire/steal the 3.3 line from? Could I use resistors etc? hmmm DAMNIT...

Monster of rock posted this link on an earlier post about this. It ought to still be good AT to ATX (http://www.connectworld.net/cgi-bin/enet/scan/sf=cat1/se=Internal/sf=cat2/se=Power/)

It still doesn't change the fact that a AT psu doesn't have a 3.3V line, which a ATX board needs. The only usefulness you'll get out of the psu is if you get a tower case, and install it along with the ATX psu, and use the AT psu to power any fans or cooling devices/accessories to offload some of the current draw from the ATX psu.
