The Idea for outsourcing is to preserve cash, it is done to be cheaper and quality control is passed on to another company.

Just like anything else, when you give a product to someone else to finish, there is a tendency for not as much effort to keep the same high level of quality that you may have put into it.

Also you have the option of blame. If something is not as good as it once was, a company can say it is because of the way it was packaged, and the packaging company can say it is the way it was manufactured, making it difficult for real progress to be made.

That is why, "Traditionally, such work is done in-house to meet the strict quality requirements". Would you trust someone else working on your pc when you know you can do a much better job?

Sure the packaging company may be able to do a good job, but outsourcing in general usually indicates some loss of quality / control. Lets hope that doesn't happen and they will be able to capitalize on specializing in their individual areas.

Micron may be buying them out.
I think that is good news
More Micron RAM, providing it has Micron quality, is a very good thing indeed
