lol, thats what i was thinking.. but i know that i shouldnt be putting this much pressure on it... somethings not lining up or something.. i'm in the process of taking the card out, so i dont bust it out of the agp slot of something :P anyone else know what it could be?

it is the side of the adapter that has the long horizontal looking pin in the middle, for those of you who have one working... i think something must be bent because the other side wants to go in fine... hm.. i cant see anything that is damaged however.. mospeadas, did you ever have this thing working? :)

Yet all the pins look like they should aline and are straight?

Really weird, Maybe send it back defective?

i would except i got it from mospeadasdark :P haha guess i'll have to just wait and ask him what im doing wrong.. oh well i'll hold off on the dual 19"er's :(

ok i realized the problem! on the right side of the adapter, above and below the big flat, horizontal looking pin, there are 2 pins above and 2 below that long piece.. it just wont fit! are there more than 1 type of dvi kinds or what?

Yea, there are 2 types. DVI-Digital, DVI-Integrated.

I had that working with the AIW 7200. I thought all ATi card were DVI-I. What does the connector look like?

yeah its the first one... without the 4 pins by that horizontal one.. CRAP! :p haha

Weird. Was the 8500LE from ATi? I have another DVI->something.

30pins and one horizontal->24pins 2 vertical near the pins and one horizontal.

Would that help at all?

edit: check if the pins are bent anywhere.

yes, it is a built by ati 8500le... the connector on the card itself looks exactly like that first one on the list on that page you linked too.. but the adapter end looks like 2nd one.. houston, we have a problem :P

Hmm..

That's not gonna help. The adaptor that came with my ATi 8500 128MB is the same as you have.

so this adapter will not work, obviously... but is there just a different one i have to use instead? or is entirely not possible you think?

Look for a DVI-D->VGA adaptor.

But I'm not exactly sure how a digital signal can be converted to analog by just some dongle. DVI-I would work since it carries an analog signal too, but DVI-D I dunno.

ok.. thx for all your help, i'll check it out

well its official i think - i'm SOL.. for some reason my LE is dvi-d, that connector CAN NOT support an analog signal.. only digital. i was mislead when reasearching this card (on sites, from friends, on different forums.. these forums, etc etc) that i COULD have crt+crt on this card.. this is not the case unfortunately.. only the cards with dvi-i connector, which appears is slightly different from my dvi-d.. see here for a pics of the dvi-d and the dvi-i, the one that i have and cannot use analog montiors is the first one.. even with an adapter:

http://www.iiyama.com/support2/faq.html

i hope this clears up the confusion on this once and for all.. i know a few people who have been mislead into thinking all 8500s are capable of dual crts, if not out of the box, with an adapter.. but this just isnt the case.. thx for the adapter anyways mospeadas, did you want it back? :p

perhaps a mod could shorten this or something? make a sticky to let the word out.. unless i'm the only idiot who has had this misconception. ;)

To be honest,

I didn't know there were two different kinds of DVI connectors. I thought they all carried the analog signal along with them.

Thanks for the info you guys. I was wrong. I still don't know everything there is to know!!!

;) Chalk this up as another golden piece of info I gathered here.

Hey,
I got the same crap on me today when I tried to connect my LCD!!!
My LCD supposed to have all digital DVI, yes?
No, it has those pins around the horizontal one and this sucker wont fit. What a waste of time this card.

Can I buy DVI cable somwhere without those pins extra pins? Will my LCD work on such cable, what the heck is this dvi-d for.....?

Since you have a digital input on your LCD then you should be able to find a cable that only has the digital connection with out the analog... at least I would think so.

Or else why would they make that kind of a connection.

should I knock these pins out on the card side of the cable????
according to the website that was posted above you cannot use both signals at the same time anyway...
but what for would those samsung suckers inlude analog pins in their socket and dvi cable anyway. I am confused.....this is too much like for today.
