View Full Version : another cd/dvd mod

i dunno if this is an original idea or not. but instead of tryin to put a window in your cd rom or dvd rom like is so comonly concidered, why not put one inside so it glows when the drive tray is open. it would give it a neat mystic look. too bad ya cant hook up fog huh. lol

I built a LED into one of my drive about a month ago. Had planned on putting it into the tray and having it powered only when the tray was open, but discovered it was a simplier task to just put it in the drive's case above the tray and power it all the time. I posted it, let me see if the threads still here.

a note about superglue. lol. i recently exposed a bit of muscle on my finger and asked my sister for some for my finger. she thought i wanted to glue my fingers together. when i inquired as to why she would think something like that, she said cuz its fun. aparently she finds that fun. now who can tell me blondes are smart? she also insists the little lines between the inches on a ruler are centimeteres. lol

Yeah, but just barely. Version two of this mod might come out a little bit nicer, I'm in the planning stages of it for now.

a stobe inside it would be awesome, but difficult. autozone and pep boys sell some sweet little 12v strobe kits

I'm really not into anything that flashy. I just don't see the reason to put *that* much "bling bling" on my pc. :)

if i were to add the strobes it would be in addition to my cold cathode. i just figure for a bit of "texture" to the lighting if that makes sense. i wouldnt really put it in my cpu. actually i have kinda wanted to find a way to make a light strobe at a completely randomly changing interval to give it a flickering light effect... kinda like a florescent light when its cold or what not
