View Full Version : Which sound card would u pick?
I want to order one of the sound cards on this webpage from Directron since I'm already going to buy other parts anyway. Which one of the $30 and under cards would you pick? Is the Herculus Gamesurround Muse any good? I do a lot of gaming. Thanks!:)

Personally, I would choose the SB LIVE 5.1. for an extra $5!!!!!
But for $30 or less, i would go with the SB PCI128. Haven't heard the Hercules so cant say on their performance, but they might be good to....:burn:

i vote for the 5.1 too hehe
games like medal of honor are great in surround, you can tell which direction bullets or footsteps are coming from.

Another good choice would be a ECS 5.1 s/card . I purchased two of these for my other systems and am VERY happy with the results and sound quality in 4.1/5.1 dolby (including gaming and DVD's) ! I purchased BOTH at ebay LINKY (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2030788516) , and from the same seller "mrlpgmr" . Cards are RETAIL boxed and BRAND NEW . Seller was quick and reliable !!! Was pointed to ( or refered to ) the ECS 5.1 by others at this site and at AMDMB.com forums . There are also very GOOD updated drivers for this card for WinXP/Pro My .02:D
Thanks everyone for the opinions. There are so many sound cards it's like a jungle. I like the price of that ECS 5.1 sound card, I think I may just buy it since it comes recommended by you and others. The price difference between that and the Soundblaster 5.1 is significant, but if the performance is almost the same then I'll just buy the ECS.
