raid and disk size

when setting up a raid 0 lets say do both the drive have to be the exact same or can they differ in size and manufacturer??

They can usually be set up, but you will lose both space and performance by doing it. With RAID 0, 1 and 5 , space will be limited by the smallest drive, and differing drive geometry and performance can limit performance to that of the slowest drive at best.
