First, today I was a tad bored since it's been raining all weekend, I decided it would be good to hear something else than my delta38 running. I have a duron 650 running at 950, with 1.5v stock, and 1.85v at 950mhz. I said to myself, what if I drop the speed and the voltage, and see if it can run a while with passive cooling? I pencil'd the bridges on my cpu to 5.5 instead of 6.5, and pencil'd the voltage at 1.65v, to let me select 1.45v as well as 1.85v in my bios (the bios allows a range of .2v only). It booted fine at 550mhz with as low as 1.45v, and I can run TOAST for about 30 minutes without the delta38 below 60c. With CPUIDLE and without TOAST of course, I can work without the fan, even in a game !
My motherboard is a MSI K7T turbo and my cooling is the vantec 6035d, 100% copper with the loud (but effective) delta38, what amazes me is that nobody can even select 1.45v in their BIOS, while I can (and it's really running at 1.45v). I think it's kinda cool (no pun intended) :D
