And that's what the gameplay is like in my GTA3. It's insanely laggy on the system in the signature. I don't understand why, though! I went to the site, and they know about it, but they don't really know how to fix it. I turned everything I could down, defragmented my HD, played w/ my Radeon settings in RadeonTweaker, but to no avail! The site suggested that I turn down the Graphics Apature in the BIOS to 4, which I did, and it helped a little, but not much.
Does anybody else have this problem, and if so, how did you make it better?

My Dad has the same problem on his PC.
basically it starts out ok, but within 1-2 minutes it goes to crap.
Ive tried reading various forums and ive played with every imaginable setting, both in the game and in Windows (2K).
It seems like ALOT of people are experiencing the same issues.
Have you tried the NO-CD.exe patch for cd2, the 1 that moves all the files from the disk onto the HDD so it doesnt have to keep loading all the sounds from the cd-rom?
another 1 I read was to fire up winamp before starting the game, don't know about that 1 tho, didn't work for me.
Thx for the reply!
I usually have Winamp running no matter what, and it's still choppy.
It's a bug in the game, and Rockstar games knows about it, they just haven't done anything about it yet.

Yeah I know, I just wish they would hurry up and release a patch for it!
the game is awesome but it would be better if it wasn't so buggy.
kinda reminds me of Rogue Spear, I remember I shot my Wife in the stomach 22 times at point blank range with an AK47 and she didnt die, instead she pulled out a pistol and killed me with 1 shot!!!
I smashed a mouse to pieces playing that game it got me so frustrated!!!

Its really weird, I was playing on a epox 8k3a when I first got the game and it ran sweet,I didnt have any of the slowdowns, stuttering or messed up textures that people are having.I had to rma that board last week and so now I am on a shuttle ak31 and I get all those problems and I still am using the same cpu and vid card(xp 1900 and radeon 8500 128mb version) with win xp.

Buggy here too, XP 1024x768 res, V-sync off, frame limiter off. Its almost like a bad beta release. Yes I bought the game retail, so thats not an issue. Where the heck is my patch?

Sound's like a audio related problem, and I think it's because of CD2. It's all music on this CD, so whenever you get in a car it might stop for a second cause it has to spin up the CD.
Try turning the ingame music off and leave the SFX sound on, see if that helps.
I also had similar problems, but to a lower effect, but when I changed the audio device/audio driver in the in game options, it seemed to clear up.
I d/led a no cd crack (Not telling from where) and moved the audio from the CD to the GTAIII Dir and it seemed to help a whole lot.
