when overclocking a video card is the memory chips temperature too much important? Is it possible they to overheat?
yes any memory modul can overheat if OCed make shure plenty of air flow over the card and you can even get little heatsinks for the mem look at www.cpufx.com

I dissagree with the memory heatsinks. Touch your ram...does it feel hot? The answere is always no. Your gpu will get very hot, a lot of people take off the stock heatsink and put a blorb on (blue orb). So graphics card cooling is important. There was a LONG thread on this a while ago and the general conclusion was that ram heatsinks don't really do anything but they look pretty cool.

...i strongly agree with that but:
i tested temperatures when overclocking - with open case and fingers the memory chips never got noticeable hot but couldnt go beyond 195MHz for them until got colors modifications on img. i installed a case fan and the air flow is right upon these memory chips and now, with closed case, 205MHz is perfectly possible. what is that if before the fan the chips never got hot? could the mem chips temp variations be much lower but also effective?
