G'day all this is my first post so yeah, anyway the problem i'm having is with my Liteon cd writer which has been in my computer since the start of the year, when i write data to a cd it flies along at 16x and does a entire cd in about 5 or so mins but when i make a music cd as it read each track individually the buffer runs down then the buffer underrun kicks in and then builds up starts writing again then dops off, this happens all through the cd and it ends up taking 15+ mins which i dont like?? any thoughts on what the problem could be??

:mad:

PS i use nero 5.5 and when i test the speed of my hdd is does on average 20mb a second

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS

How is the CDRW hooked up. If you have the CD-ROM and the CDRW on the same IDE channel it slows it down. It also does not let you "Burn on the fly".

My experience is that ;
IDE 1 Primary - HDD (jumper set as master)
IDE 1 Secondary - CD-ROM (jumper set as slave)

IDE 2 Primary - CDRW (jumper set as master)
IDE 2 secondary - anything else,Zip, DVD and etc. set as slave
