View Full Version : 12v. pump claims to be better than an Ehiem!

This 12v. pump (https://www.overclockershideout.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=o&Product_Code=C&Category_Code=P) claims to be better than an Ehiem (and for $99 it ought to be). Does anyone have any experience with this pump? It also claims to be an inline pump that comes with a molex connection. That's mainly why I'm interested. It seems it would be very convenient. But I would not sacrifice quality for convenience.

Thanks for your imput.

no way!

3 Gallon per minute is insane, I have a pump that looks JUST like that and it came off a camping trailer (went to the sink). It pumps 3 ghp and when I fired it up the water just shoots out like it does in a kichen sink. I dont think it would be good at all for watercooling, well maybe if you had a very tall bong it would be ok, thats just too much water for 1/2" hoses though, it would prolly make the hoses come off if you dont use metal hose clamps.
I cant believe there even trying to sell thim.

Isn't that the same as 180 gallons per hour? That doesn't seem to high.

.....yeah I'm pretty sure your righ hardware. I don't think it would blow off hoses either, some people use 1300gph pool pumps and they don't have leaks.

well like I said mine went to a kichen sinks and Im telling you that thing has some power.

mine also says 3 gpm also so Im thinking there the same pump, I would also like to note mines not the quietest pump in the world.
maybe its because mine is made for pressure?

Sounds nice and draws the same amount of amps that my attwood does but that is a bilge pump. Running it at 5v it was silent and drew even less power. At 5v it was running around 200gph about what this 12v pump puts out. Big bonus is that it cost only $13. Check here.

Good prices.

The v500 only draws around 1.2 amps @ 12v.

$100 for a 180gph pump with 4' head?? I don't think so!

The 1/2" fittings look to be attached with tubing and clamps. No threaded adapters. Only uses around 15W.

Better than an Eheim? I'd like to know how.

At least this one can be used with water wetter. The last one they sold couldn't.

I would be wary of this pump.

seems promising actually. if its a magnetic driven pump it could be a brushless motor and should last alot longer then most dc pumps. if u buy let us know how it works out. plus the 12 dc is a plus too.

I thought I had one but I guess its different. Mine went to a camper sink and has more pressure I would think thin that one.

I got a question about the pumps ol' man told us about that can be found here
http://brinsonmarine.safeshopper.com/53/cat53.htm?577

To use these pumps you just put them at the bottom of your res and hook up a single hose to them right???

I'm running a pump much more powerful than that one and I have yet to blow a hose off. I have a few hoses with no clamps at all (Tygon r-1000).
