i just got myself a Sony 12x DVD Rom. i tried watching the Matrix but only get to see half the screen. although i have put it to full screen but the top and bottom part of the screen is black and the picture is only in the middle. is there something i can do about it. i tried using both WinDVD and PowerDVD but still can't get full screen. i heard that there is nothing that can be done but i'm sure somebody out there manage to get full screen without the black thing at the top and bottom. thanx in advance

i can't cause i don't know how to do it. i tried using "print screen" but don't seem to be able to do it. i suppose u don't understand what i mean when i say the top and bottom part of my screen is black. i really don't know how to explane but i guess u'll just have to imagine that when u are watchinga movie on your Pc at full screen, u are actually watching only half the screen that is the center part as the top and bottom part of the screen is being covered in black. it sometimes says that "for full screen switch to NTSC" what on earth is NTSC and how do i switch to it on a PC. i really hate it when i cannot see the full picture. know what i mean :-) thanx again

to capture a screen image use ctrl+print screen then go into you image software and paste it.

as for the full screen thing it sounds like got the dvd set to widescreen. if you are using power dvd, it should allow you to set it. i think what you want is the 4:3 setting. sorry i can't guide you through how to change it cause i'm at work and i don't have the program in front of me.

hope that helps.

the dvd 's are in 2.35:1 ratio, it means it's 2.35 wide and 1 high. That's just like movies in the theater, there's nothing wrong with your dvd player or software, that's just the way dvd's are.
