You live in California so you would have to pay tax and shipping I presume. All of us that don't live in CA get a break on the tax thing.:)
Fold on! :burn:

I have, at least 3 times. My last order was 256 meg of Crucial DDR ram, which came on Monday. The new system is complete!!! It's now up and folding. 1.0 GHz Duron currently (and effortlessly) at 1.2 GHz.
I buy from newegg any time I can even though I do live in Cali. Between their prices and their customer service it is worth the extra 7%.

As I said above, I am taking up farming. I am going to put four XP's on redhat linux. It's name will be Yattazilla.

That's a cool name. I believe I've read here in the forums that linux doesn't fold as fast as windows. Is that true?

I've heard that as well ... from several sources.

It is true even with the new compiler and the difference is noticeable. It may be faster to run them using wine than with the native linux client as the windows compiler is still superior. If I ever get wine configured I'll be able to benchmark. Maybe someone else will have an answer ;)

Wine Is Not an Emulator ;) www.winehq.com
It's to allow the running of windows apps in linux. It has a long way to go but you can run the folding client with wine.

I don't know how much of a hit I will take from running redhat but your idea about wine is interesting. Perhaps I might run two mobos on pure redhat and two on wine. Since they are going to be identical systems, that would give some anecdotal evidence.
In so far as my choice of OS's goes, I am thinking of $$$/MHZ.
Another four sets of win/2k-sp2 would cost over $ 700.00. Which is rather more than I intend to spend on the hardware.

with the Gromacs core it's suppose to close the gap between linux and windows.
