Hi, I am having trouble unlocking an XP2100. After 3 attempts I still get the message saying 'CPU has changed, set clock in bios" but it always defaults back to the std clock rate. Is this inherent in the 2100 (locked out) or am I still not getting it right??

Thanks

Paul

Are you able to adjust the multiplier in the bios or
by jumpers on the motherboard? Do you even have
the option to do this? Also, please tell us a little
more about whats in your computer, especially
the brand and model of your motherboard.

The XP2100 is not "locked out."

Actually, all XPs have their multipliers locked. The MPs are the ones that come unlocked from the factory.

Check out this thread (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=66470) to see how to unlock the multiplier. There is also a video that shows you how to do it here (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48258).

Lastly, welcome to the forums.

Paul The XP2100 when unlocked through the L1 bridges only can access multipliers 13 & above not below so that is one issue that you may have not prepared for. You need to modify the L10 bridges from : | to | : I think..... or is it the otherway around..... I know! Tell us what they look like then go for the opposite:eek: :D

I did not say that they came unlocked, in regards to what
phans said, I ment to say it is not impossible to unlock.
You may also find Toms Hardware Video of some use if you
have not watched it yet.

The xp2100 is different then the others (dont know about the xp2200), with the xp2000 and under all you have to do its connect the L1 bridges. while with the xp2100 you actually have to cut one of the L10 bridges, as Sonny said. this makes it much more dangerous then unlocking the other procs. I think the best method is to use a dremel and a very steady hand, although some say you can use an exact-o-knife. either way you must be very careful not to cut into the processor, just the bridge.

Sonny was right (the first time) you have to change the L10s from : | to | : as well as connect the L1s.

Ahhh, now it makes sense. I didn't know about those L10 codings either. Learn something new every day I guess...

Thanks guys, I'll check out the L10's tomorrow and let you know how I go.

By the way I have an EPoX 8K3A, 250Mb Kingmax ram, MSI GTI4600.

with the L10s in the original state you unlock all multipliers from 13 and up. after you modded the L10s you get all multipliers from 12.5 and below. unfortunetly its one or the other, not both.

Well I'm a little confused. With the original Locked setup I got 11,923 3D marks with a 142 FSB (1846mhz). With the new setup I could only muster 11,826. Thats with an FSB of 185Mhz x 10 (1850Mhz). I thought a higher FSB was going to be a lot better.

Any ideas??
