I´we just finshed reading this review a couple of minutes ago :
http://www.hothardware.com/hh_files/Motherboards/asus_p4t533.shtml
The board has it all and ASUS forecasts a price of more than $300 for the P4T533, but wait??
They are incl something? what is this? Holy Cow!! It´s a 512 Mb RIMM 4200 (PC1066) and it comes with the pricetag?? WOW !!!
Well head over and check it out, it looks like i have found the board i have been dreaming about.
And if there is someone with info or when it hits the store, tell me plz! ; >

Man that looks like just what I've been waiting for. Although it does'nt seem to really bench higher than the P4T. I wonder how well it clocks? Don't see one on pricewatch or at M-wave, but I'll keep my eye's peeled. Thanks for the info Floorkiller:beer:

I do think you are right I have a 1.6a and have been holding off buying a motherboard since these new ones are coming out. I am sure we will see some 1850E motherboards that will have the FSB higher than 150 FSB and not have any trouble with 1066 ram or the new 4200 Rdram. I read the article and it does sound like a really great board. I would like to see some people who maybe will buy it soon benchmark it and see how it overclocks. I think the forum here is alot more accurate than the reviews. If I were you I would wait a little while longer till the 4200 Rdram is out a while. At current prices this board with the ram is a excellent deal.

Can't wait must have now! I would like to know more about the RIMM 4200, price, availability, performance and such.

You have to notice that the P4t-E is overclocked in those benchmarks where as the P4t533 is running stock.
I am so glad ^^^Floorkiller^^^ posted this review. I was going to get the Giga-Byte 8IHXP until I read that!
Thanx Floor!
:D
I got that mobo & it does 182FSB(3X RDRAM) on Air cooled, ram benches are at around 39xx/39xx,pretty good mobo,im sure my RDRAM would go higher but its my cpu.

Thanx :D, well i got it from Abbas (www.tbreak.com),im only doing some testing on it & have to give it back though.
I've also been waiting for this board for a while now ... as you all noticed, it is the ultimate mobo and I can't wait till I get my hands on it ;)

Heres an evaluation on some P4 rdram boards from THG, it seems that the Gigabyte takes the cake in almost all of the benchmarks and the P4T533 isnt as amazing as originally thought to be. Also the Gigabyte comes with more OC'er friendly options such as memory voltage manipulation.THG Review (http://www6.tomshardware.com/mainboard/02q2/020624/index.html)
I never trust on reviews made by THG, so I stick with the Asus mobo as I need much more than 156MHs FSB to overclock my P4 2.26B. I need at least 188MHz and that the Gigabyte can’t deliver. Not to mention the fixed AGP/PCI clocks that will be needed to run that mobo at high FSB ;)

Since I planned on a new mobo anyway and this one happened along, it looks like the one. Still can't find one yet. I think it would be ok to post additional info also naser. I'm glad someone finaly noticed this thread, was begining to have second thoughts about buying it.

Yeah the 156 max FSB kinda sucks but the question is can the P4T533 actually reach those speeds above 156Mhz? If it can and run stable without the rimm volt increase, then hell i'll stop considering the GB right now and put the P4T533 right back at the top of the list. I havent seen too many reviews on it other than the THG one and the one posted earlier in this thread. Anyone actually have one?
Kryogenitor,
I saw that the guys over CPU3D.com (http://www.amd3d.com/CPU3D/index.shtml#newsitem1024680053,37768,) were able to run the Rimms at 158MHz*4(632Mhz), so I imagine that having the AGP/PCI locked between 67/33 and 78/39 that will not pose me any problem to run the Rimms at 190MHz*3 (570MHz). Naser also reports that he was able to get the mobo up to 182MHz FSB and could not go higher limited by the CPU ;)

Take a look at this !
A 256 MB module is bundled with the package, and that's it. The manufacturer offers the motherboard in two versions. The first version is bundled with PC4200 memory that runs at 533 MHz. The cost for this package is $375.
The second version comes with PC3200 memory with a 400 MHz clock, thereby reducing the cost by about $20. A factory upgrade to 512 MB RDRAM is not possible.
So it´s NOT coming with 512Mb / RIMM 4200 ??
Or? :(
Yes unfortunately it cames only with 256MB. But the "good" :D news is that according to Akiba Japan, the 256MB PC4200 (1066 32bits) modules are available in Japan since June 22 rated 122 USD (125 €uros)
http://akiba.ascii24.com/akiba/news...636715-000.html
I also found 4 Japanese :D online stores selling the P4T533 with a delivery date on June 25
http://demian.cside5.jp/c0f
Updates,
This board looks very promising so far,I'll let the pictures do the talking.
http://www.tbreak.com/~naser/ASUS/dim4200.jpg
You can see it says E/S (Engineering Sample) + its a 512MB stick which usually doesnt o/c as good as 256MB.
http://www.tbreak.com/~naser/ASUS/161x4.jpg
see the ram doing 1288Mhz!!
http://www.tbreak.com/~naser/ASUS/185rdram.jpg
RDRAM is only @ 1110Mhz which proves that the CPU is the limiting factor.
I can run 3dmark at 180 only but using a GF4 @ Defualt speed(300/650) im getting around 13k.Also the board i got is a Rev 1.02,Ill be watching this thread for any questions u got.
Naser
Naser that’s great news ;) Thanks for posting here this exclusive pics. This thread is going to be famous. :) This board really rocks. The Sandra benchies are truly amazing! However, I have a question. Why can you only run 3Dmark at 180MHz FSB with the Geforce4 at stock speeds? With AGP/PCI clocks locked at 67/33 that should not pose any problems in my opinion. Can you clarify this for us please? Thanks. ;)

You got a point there Petrus,i didnt o/c the GF4 since im trying to narrow everything down to see how far this board+ram+cpu will do,also i went to 180 since i know that it will definatly finish the test, ill try & see the highest i can do 3dmark.
Naser
Thanks m8, ;)
I just can’t wait to see how far you can push that system, even tough what I am seeing up till now is good enough for me :)
I just did 3dmak @182(131xxPoints),but @183 it kicks me back to desktop, also i enabled ALL USB,Audio, etc & still looks fine even at 183.
P.S:If u guys got ANY question please be quick sincet i have to give that mobo back soon. :( damn i like this board.
What’s kicking you back to desktop? The CPU or the Rimms? I hope is the CPU because I will need at least 188MHz FSB to push my P4. Anyway, the Asus P4T533 is going to be my next mobo and that is for sure :)

I think its the CPU,i got the worst P4 cooler with an 80mm Delta.I just releaized u got the Prometeia Freezer, wanna ask u a couple of thing about that if u dont mind,im working on my own chiller & the only problem im facing so far is that at IDEL i get -13C on MBM but the problem is while under load it goes all the way to 40C :S,any idea?Thanx

I ‘m almost sure is your CPU holding you back. With better cooling, I‘m sure you would be able to get higher and stable clocks ;)
If you want you can send me all details regarding you chiller by mail. I will try to check what is going wrong. My mail is Petrus@netcabo.pt

Wow nice board I'm definently getting one of these. I'm getting a 2.26 with watercooling so 177 or 180 fsb x 17 = 3009 or 3060.
Rdram 177 x 2 x 3 = 1062 or 180 x 2 x 3 = 1080. Should be do able correct ?
Looking at what Naser was able to do (+180MHz*4), I don’t see why you can’t reach those stings ;)

I`m about to buy a board, the P4T533 is looking GREAT, but
the price is only "OK".
I have made my order on it, but i´m still woundering if the OLD and good Abit Th7II is just as good.
It does not suport Udma 133 and it does not have Raid and Usb2 6 ch audio , 6 pci´s...
But beside all that it´s a hell of a good board.
I know it´s kind of old, (Th7II) 7 months or more but...
I can get the Th7II for 120$ and with 512mb 1066rdram 460$.
And the P4T533 with 256 Rimm 4200 400$.
60$ more for 256mb extra memory....
Help me out to make the right buy.
/ Thanx ...
HI Floorkiller,
First, can you please tell me where did you ordered the Asus mobo?
Regarding the choice between the Abit TH7-II and the P4T5333, I think that the Asus gives me more guaranties to work at high FSBs than the Abit and offers the other goodies you mentioned. In my opinion, they are the best RDR mobos available, however I’ve already made my mind, and the Asus is going to be my choice.

Hello Petrus !!!
Well i live in Sweden and I did quite a bit of searching and came up with 1 reseller here in Sweden that has it.
And the store is: www.hogdata.se and then just list to motherboards and buy.
They don´t have it in just yet, but I phone them at hogdata and they told me to have it in just a week. ( i hope )..
So there you have it, looking forward to get my hands on it.

Does anyone have any ideas when RIMM4200 is going to be availible? I really like the P4T533, but I'm going to want more RAM that 256MB!
Thanks Floorkiller, :)
That’s what I call luck but is also a good sign for me as a live in Portugal. If the mobo is going to be available in Sweden, it would also be available in other European countries soon, I hope

Yes 256Mb is not mutch today.
But i wounder what would be the better choice, to buy another SAMSUNG 256Mb or a $$ 512Mb $$.
On the other hand 512Mb would do pretty well on all games today, or..?
I find it sad that it came "Only" with 256Mb...
But you can´t get it all, right ; ) ....
The prices for 16-Bit Rdram today is HIGH, so how mutch will the 32-bit´s cost? And WHEN will they be in stores??

Well Petrus I think it`s just around the corner for you.
As you say, if it´s here then it would not be far from you.... ; )
Btw, see you have great taste, when it comes to Graphic Brand.
GAINWARD RULES, I too have the BADASS !!! TI-4600 GXP 750 ..
Looks like we will have pretty same system, so maby we can hit the same speed to, with some hints and tips to tweak it all out.
I will go for the 2.26b...
Keep me posted when you get the board, and let me know how it´s going for you to O/C it.
I don´t have the ultimate cooling solution yet but I think that will all work out soon.

Btw: I need new Power Supply to the Board, as I TOO have gone over the the DARKSIDE, hehehe. "They are geting bigger"
I have 300w psp as of now, but what should look at?
340w or more??
Hi Floorkiller,
Your’re right we will have similar systems ;) and if you’re planning to buy a phase change cooling system I suggest you to buy the Prometeia. It’s a great cooling system, as an amazing costumer support, and reasonable price.
I will keep you posted as soon as I get my mobo, however I’m almost sure that you will receive yours first ;) I’m looking for Europeans retailers that accept orders from other countries. Usually this kind of products only arrives here one to two months after being released abroad. :(
Regarding the power supply, you can try yours first and if you find that is not enough you can always buy a new one. I have an Aopen 300 Watts, but if I realize that I need more power I probably go for the Antec 360 or 400 watts, as I like PSUs with adjustable pots.

Is it better then the Fridge(MaxxExpert)? The only thing i dont really like about this one is the case,id rather use my own,& about PSU's,well i got an AOpen server case 2 month back with a 400Watt PSU & that has the adjustable pots 3 to be exact, just though id mention it.

Do you have a link to Prometeia?
Hi guys,
I agree with Naser. The PC case is not the most attractive one, :D but is easy to use another case on top of the freezer box as they are attached with 4 crews/bolts. BTW, the compressor is supplied by 110/220v so there is no need to have a dedicated power supply for the cooling system.

Hi guys!
I'd like to know if you already can buy the board in America?
In Germandy there no retailer who has it.
Why does Asus only bundle it with 256 MB RD-RAM instead of 512 MB?
Greats Mediamaster
^^^Floorkiller^^^
06-28-02, 11:31 AM
Hello Mediamaster !!
Well my guess to your question would be because the price for a board bundled with 512Mb 4200 would be to high.
But 256mb might be enough for just now, because of the speed of the memory.
And as said before, 256Mb is most likely a better O/C´er then the 512Mb.
But I too would like 512Mb, but we will just have to wait untill they release the "sticks"...
Hi
I don’t want to imagine the price of this mobo with 512MB, :D but I’m sure that soon we will find 32 bits Rimms on the market. However, with one slot using a 256MB stick we will be limited to a maximum of 768MB

Arrrrgh...
I NEED to know if I should buy the P4T533 or TH7II !!!!
Can`t understand why it should be so hard to make the choice.

Floorkiller it’s a hard choice and it all depends on what you plan to do (i.e. CPU to use, maxFSB , max. clock etc). I was about to buy one TH7 II-R that belonged to Macci with Vcore and VDimm mods , but that mobo is extremely unstable at high clocks, so I decided to buy the P4T533. You must also have in mind that the Abit is not guaranteed to go above 150MHz. with Rimms at 4X.
^^^Floorkiller^^^
06-28-02, 03:25 PM
Hmm, well...
I have heard the same for P4T533-C, that FSB above 150Mhz may not be possible.
But we have seen that happen to P4T533 on Tbrake´s Forum, so.
I guess that a FRESH board as Asus is, well be the right thing to go for.
Thanx for helping out, to mutch information is never bad. ( I hope ;) ... )

Yes I'd like to by this board too.
I hop it wouldn't take to long before i can buy it here in germany.
But what is with den LAN Port. Will there be a version with it?
In some reviews it was mentioned.
Do you think Abit will release a Intel Board with 32 Bit RIMM 4200 support too?
I could be the successor of the Abit TH7-II Raid.
Maybe Abit is waiting for Serial ATA?!
What do you guys think?
I have heard about a WD 200 GB Serial ATA HDD.
Is it already aviable in the US?
Are there any controllers for Serial ATA?
Greetings Mediamaster

In the US, I’m not sure but I’ve heard that maybe within 2 weeks.

I was also waiting for an Abit mobo with support for 32bits Rimms, as I consider the ram performance on Abit mobos the best one :) I also signed a petition to ask Abit to release the Abit TH7-III, but even if they decide to release that mobo that will take time, and I don’t want to wait any longer.

I was readin all the specs bout this board and then i noticed that the agp slot is an agp pro slot, not agp 4x or 8x?
Whats the preformance difference between agp 4x or 8x and the agp pro????
AGP pro means it can support the nice developer cards or whatever. Still has AGP 4x though (not sure about 8x). THe MoBo I have now has support for Pro, and I can change it to 1x,2x, or 4x

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not but i just found it so i thought i'd post it.
Found the Samsung 232 pin PC1066 RDRAM at componentsdirect.com, $150 for 256MB here (http://www.componentsdirect.com/rdram_1600.htm).
Samsung still lists the ram as engineering samples though, here (http://www.samsungelectronics.com/semiconductors/search/datasheet.jsp?family=558)

Asus is not releasing the RIMM4200 part number any more, so the P4T533

information has been corroborated with Andrew at Asus. His phone number is

What's the benefit of the 4200 over 3200 besides not having to be installed in pairs? Are the other features still going to be available? (NIC, RAID?)

3200 is 500mhz ram and 4200 is 1066mhz ram..The board still supports both but will only be bundled with 3200 in the us ..The raid and lan will be avil with the 3200 bundle package

I talked with my wholesale guy today who had just gotten off the phone with his connection in taiwan at Asus. Apparently Asus is releasing three packages for the P4T533, one with 256megs of 3200, one with 256 megs of 4200 and a third with no memory at all. I think it just depends on which package the place you buy it from orders.
Also, he said that Asus wont release the board for another two weeks as theyre not even completely done manufacturing them. Thats why all the dates are being pushed back cause asus hasn't officially released the board to the distributors.

Hi!
Alternate has the board now, but they have removed the RAM out of the bundle. The like to sell it specially.
The board and the RAM would cost 269 € each.
This is 538 € for both! Thats very expensive
The Bundle fist sould cost 399 € including the RAM.
One of the biggest computer magazines in germany, testet the board in their current expenditure. They noticed that there are some memory problems, witch first could solved by cooling the memory modules by a active exhauster. I any test on the web such a problem is mentioned.
Now I'm looking for a retailer who can make me a good price for the bundle.

Here's an email I sent to game pc regarding the board/bundle they're selling:
Product : Asus P4T533 RAID i850-E (w/ 256MB RIMM-4200) Retail
Question :
Are you sure this board (P4T533) is bundled with 256MB of PC4200 and if so, is it an ECC or non-ECC RIMM?
I find this difficult to believe because the word on the forums and the netnews in general is that this board was going to be shipped initially with PC3200 because Samsung won''t be putting PC4200 into mass production until September.
I''m very eager to order this board and I''m sure you''ll be sold out very quickly. Alot of people have been waiting along time for this particular piece of hardware :)

As you can see from the part number it is 32ns non-ECC PC4200 :) which is nice.
This is fortunate for people stateside. News from the UK is that us brits will be getting PC3200 in the bundle - UK gets the short straw again :(
Warning: certain sites are splitting the bundle before selling. This might not be illegal but it is certainly immoral. Check out this link:
http://www.computerbase.de/news.php?id=3587
It's in German so you may need a web-site translator. It makes interesting reading I think you'll agree.
Don't get ripped off peeps - it would seem that this board is not supposed to be for sale without the bundled memory.

Looks like newegg is the best deal and most reliable vendor for the P4t533 they have it in stock board alone for 190 and the 4200 Rdram for 125 This is where I am going to purchase my componets as this is cheaper than the bundled prices. New egg at least is a reputable vendor

If they're so reputable why are they splitting the bundled memory and selling it separately.
Last night there was a link on Newegg's site to the bundled memory under the mobo description saying something like 'Save $2 when you buy Asus PC4200' and the price of the memory was $120.
Today it's changed - the link is still there but now it says 'Save $30 when you buy this item with Asus' and the memory price has gone up to $170.
This board was bundled at the Asus factory with 256Mb of 32ns PC4200 non-ECC memory and is not supposed to be sold without it.
It seems to me that Newegg and a few other 'dealers' are cashing in on the confusion.
Scan in the 'UK' are pulling the same scam but they're doing it a little more subtly ie. they're not listing the price of the 'split' memory, they're just inviting the potential purchaser to 'call'.
The price they're charging for the board is an outrageous £190 which equates to $297. The memory being split from the UK bundle isn't even PC4200 - it's 256MB 40ns PC3200 ECC
Can anybody shed any light on why the UK market is being supplied with the P4T533 bundled with PC3200 and the rest of the planet's markets are being supplied with the P4T533 bundled with PC4200. What the HELL is going on?

Well New Egg is no differnet than other retailers except they are reliable. They all play tricks you are right the price of the board was 190 yesterday and still is today. But the 4200 Rdram is 170 then they knock off 30 when you buy the board with it. MMMMM an even 500 isnt that special of them and they give free shipping. On the other hand yesterday the price was 190 for the board and 125 for the 4200 Rdram memory with free shipping. So the difference is one day is 60 dollars because I would be purchasing 512 mb which is what Windows xp takes. Well they know what they can do with their tricks. I will purchase elsewhere if I can find a better deal or wait till the 512mb sticks come out and the price of 256mb 4200 goes down. This is bull**** price markup in just one day. If the price of Rdram keeps going up I am switch to DDR it isnt that much slower with the new sis 648 chipset and good ddr.

Lastest news is PC4200 of any size is not available until September. The only sticks you'll be able to find at this moment are 256MB sticks that have been split from the P4T533/256MB PC4200 bundle by certain 'unscrupulous' (IMHO) retailers.
The way things seem to be going, I very much doubt if we'll see 512MB sticks until even later than that.

It seems as though only one place is selling with 512 MB ram, and that's 2*128MB. On Pricewatch, RunTime Computer Corp., with an 8.60 rating on resellerratings.com. $422 though, which means may be cheaper to throw in the extra stick yourself.
