View Full Version : i'm scared
Just got my p4 2.2ghz in the mail 10 minutes ago, trying to open package, and the p4 fell 3-4 feet to the ground. I'm soooooo scared cause i'm still waiting for the mobo in the mail. How durable is the p4, you think it broke?
Doubt it. Does it have any visible damage?
If the CPU was in the package, you'll be fine. If the CPU was naked, it still might be ok. Carefully check with a magnifying glass to make sure none of the pins were bent. If there is no visible damage, chances are you'll be ok.

you should be fine.
Today's chips are quite durable, especially the Intel chips now that many have the IHS (core is the most sensitive). Heck, I put several gashes on my Celeron with my attempt of removing the IHS with a blade, and it still works flawless.

yrs must be a northy. As we all know it is just a piece of metal unlike the amd chips. My baby sis though it was a toy a slammed it a couply of times. Luckily nothing bad happen. That metal casing is sure durable. however if that heavy stock heatsink slams onto that chip, I cannot assure u whether it would be working fine

Do you guys have no respect for AMD durability? I've dropped my 1.2gig T-bird more times than I'd like to admit. And yes, the core is chipped all over the place... It still overclocks to 1.4GHz!!!! Your P4 is fine unless you broke off a pin. They're built like tanks, not like processors. (I wish they weren't.) Yes, I have one.
