My CD-Rom Mod Question

I have already done the window mod to my drive here and I am pretty satisfied with it. However, I was wondering if I could use a dremel and cut away some of that top plate that sits on top of the cd. Its a Plextor PlexWriter 24x

What you have done is given a link to the picture on your HD. So, no one else will be able to see it. Use MS Paint to save as a JPG, than attach it.

It would be fine if its on the top part of the CD. Remember that HDDs, CDs, and records use the same style of playback(Grooves and pickups). laser pickups are on the bottom. You need to totally dismantle the drive so no metal shavings get near that pickup or the gears/motor. Never saw a CD-ROM window mod like that. I thought you replaced the front bezel with a Plxiglass one. Sheish, everything has a window. Why not make the entire drive casing out of Plxiglass/Lexan?
