OK, I was just doing the numbers:

GF3 GF3Ti500 GF4 Ti4600

200/460 240/500 300/650

right?
So the NV30 should be around 340-360 core, 725-750 DDR RAM,(?64 byte?) right? That's in 5.5 months right? RV300 specs show roughly the same speed, and they'll be here in 2-4 weeks. Why wait? Right?

But what about the specs? Am I close? RV300 is slated for 350/800+, should be around 6-8 weeks from now. If that is true, then ATI is finally going to be able to directly compete with nVidia. Remember the Radeon 8500? It was supposed to go toe-to-toe with the GFTi500, now its getting dragged along against the Ti4600. And until someone can duplicate ATI's GuideStar+ and TV-On-Demand software, as well as a built in TV Tuner, ATI is the best. Bow down, nVidia!

No, the NV30 should be announced in Early Aug with boards showing up by the end of September most likely. Least that's what my understanding is. I certainly don't expect 5-6 months from now. More likely 5-6 months from the GF4 introduction.

Originally, the prototype NV30 was to have a 400MHz GPU and 1000MHz DDR-Ram (128-bit), but now, Nvidia has decided to have 4 textures rendered per pipe so that whole prototype from last year is out the tubes.

The new NV30 (Omen/Eclipse) runs around 300MHz and uses 800MHz 256-bit DDR Ram.

ATIs specs are already final for R300, 350MHz Core, 800MHz DDR-Ram (128-bit).

300 Core? Thats what the Ti4600's run; Correct Me if I'm wrong but wouldn't that memory be

300 mhz with a new chip is much faster then 300mhz with an old chip. it is apparent in the cpu market. I also hear the nv30 will have dual processors OMGOOSE

Isn't the NV30 supposed to be .13 micron or something?

nv30 is .13 micron

the 300 BASE core for the nv30 is like the xp1600 chip, its the base...so it will overclock really well. and then the memory will be new chips also, therefore being able to overclock ALOT. i dont plan on upgrading my video card..since i just got mine in december...but the new chip, means old ones will drop in price

i believe the 8X AGP mobos should come out end of july, beginning/mid august...that way consumers will be able to get their hands on them and not have to wait longer to be able to see more performance in the card...because of a slower agp slot

I was looking at it, and I think I have some new numbers to flash by y'all. nVidia/ATI cards have been around since 1999. 3 years later we have 350MHz chips and 128Mb RAM....That means by 2011 we should have the new GeForce XX Ti202200. 1.05GHz GPU's with 512Mb of 1.6GHz Dual DDR...OMFG, crap. And I think my 933 Coppermine is fast. :D

Remeber, NV30 has 8-pipes with 4 textures rendered per pipe.

GF4TI has 4-pipes with 2 textures rendered per pipe.

At 300MHz, The NV30 GPU it self is essentially 8 times faster than the GeForce4 TI 4600, with RAW GPU performance.

The ram will be a major bottleneck even with 256-bit DDR. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.

Also, its .13M but when you double the pipes, you almost double the amount of heat produced.

3Dlabs P10 is a very interesting graphics chip. It has 4 pipes but renders a whoppin 8 textures per pipe. Oh man, NV30 better be good or its going to get creamed.

Dont forget, 3Dlabs makes the most powerful graphics accelerators in the world so competition will be tight. Look for 3Dlabs products from Creative Labs. Creative bought 3Dlabs a few months back and said the P10 should be ready soon.

hopefully the 3d labs card won't be as expensive as the Oxygen card but if it is anyway like that OMG it will be amazing

I wonder if that 3DLabs board will have the TV Tuner/VIVO features and software that ATI has(GeForce crushing power with true multimedia capabilities, Oh Yeah). BTW, where do y'all get this info from?

Any card of this next generatoin of Video cards (4 different ones to choose form) will be a dramatic upgrade on what ever your running now. check this http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=97945

Since Creative is making the boards, why not put an Audigy on the card, too? Then you can use a breakout cable/box(like ATI's AIW Radeon's). Hmmmmmm..........yes, that'd be perfect.:D
