Simple question i assume, but i was wondering what the refresh rate is and what should it be set at? Does it help performance?

Yes it does. Refresh rate is how many times they cathode-ray gun "blinks" each second. For the best viewing, 75 is the minimum, and 80 and up is undectable by the human eye, so eyestrain is nonexistent

of course some peoples eye sight cannot detect differences between 60 and up, the better your eye sight generally the higher refresh rate needed. Lucky blind SOB's...
